In this paper, we propose that the calculated structure and optical performance of magneto-optic spatial light modulators (MOSLM) driven by electric field (let us refer to as e-MOSLM hereafter). The e-MOSLM is composed of two Bragg mirrors, bismuth substituted yttrium iron garnet (Bi:YIG) and lead lanthanum zirconium titanium oxide (PLZT). As a function of applied voltage V, the change in PLZT refractive index n is expressed by n=0.5×n3×R×(V/d)2 with the EO constant R, thickness d, and refractive index n of PLZT film. We verified that e-MOSLM provides high contrast, high optical efficiency and sensitivity to applied electric field. We also present the optical performance of PLZT deposited by rf magnetron sputtering. |
