(in English) Data assimilation (DA), which is a statistical technique used to integrate numerical simulations and observational/experimental data, was originally developed in meteorology and oceanography. Nowadays, DA is applied widely in various fields, including space, life, and industrial sciences. While DA is now accepted as an essential technology in many fields of science, sharing perceptions of current problems and future directions of DA among researchers in the relevant community is an important step in its further advancement. In this talk, we would like to give a brief introduction on perceptions and mathematical framework of DA as well as addressing some ideas which makes Japanese skills for making the products competitive.
