Anti-corrosive stainless steel separator coated with MOCVD InGaN for polymer electrolyte fuel cell (PEFC)

(in English) This paper reports the application of InGaN films to a polymer electrolyte fuel cells (PEFC) stainless steel (SS) separator for the first time. Using MOCVD, InGaN films with In content 0-1 are grown, and electrical resistivity and dissolution rate in a H2SO4 solution are measured. As a result, films with In content in the range 0.2-0.5 are found to have both high electric conductivity and high corrosion resistance. The I-V characteristics of a single cell using an In0.3Ga0.7N/TiN/SS separator is measured, and the performance is much superior to that with a bare stainless steel.
