On the Possibility of Augmented Lorenz Equations as Turbulent Large-Scale Circulation Model

(in English) We have recently developed a chaotic gas turbine whose rotational motion may oversimplify and simulate the dynamical behavior of the Rayleigh-B'{e}nard convection heated from below and cooled from above. The nondimensionalized expression of the equations of motion governing the motion of the turbine rotor is mathematically equivalent to an augmented version of the Lorenz equations, where $N$ ($N rightarrow infty$) Lorenz subsystems form a starlike network sharing the X variable as the central node representing the dimensionless angular velocity of the rotor with $2N$ peripheral nodes representing the sinusoidal and cosinusoidal coefficients for spatial Fourier expansion of the dynamic pressure of air inflow into the turbine. In this study, we discuss the possibility of the augmented Lorenz model as a turbulent large-scale circulation model for the Rayleigh-Bénard convection with high Rayleigh numbers $> sim 10^{10}$.
