The Logical and Physiological Structure of Concept: Language and Learning -- From the Nobel Lecture of N.K. Jerne: Is The Combination of Word and Meanings Antigen-Antibody Response? --
Kimiaki Tokumaru (System Engineer) TL2011-39
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Human language is a digital evolution of mammal vocal communication. Thanks to digitalization, concepts are connected and modulated by grammars so that complex messages are exchanged. The result of thoughts can be substituted into another formula and a new result of thoughts will be obtained at a new dimension with enhanced abstractness and generality: an abstract scientific concept is established and/or axiomatized which can be shared by anybody who traces the same intellectual process with foregoers.
The only difference between human and non-human animals is the use of digital signals. Uni-dimensional syllabic chains convey information, which cannot obtained without actual experience. The accelerated progress of human civilization since the birth of language in 70KYA and that of character sets in 6KYA can be attributed solely to the digitalization of communication and thoughts. As, in the 21st century, the computer networks connected electrically the intellectual genomes of human, further evolution is expected.
In this article, the author tries to receive information from the Nobel lecture of N.K. Jerne on concept mechanism, which connects word and meaning, and which is antigen-antibody response of immune cells and immunogloblin.
