Investigation on Proportional Fair Scheduling Employing Inter-cell Interference Coordination

(in English) We present a scheduling restriction scheme for a cell having two radio resources with different channel quality statistics as in an interference coordinated network. From the perspective of a user in such a network, the protected (non-protected) resource comprises one of the two resources with higher (lower) average channel quality. The goal of scheduling restriction is to reduce, without significant performance degradation, the channel quality feedbacks that are required to reflect such quality difference. We present a scheduling restriction scheme, where only up to one user is scheduled in both resources while all the other users are scheduled in only one of the two resources. When a user is scheduled in only one resource, unnecessary overheads on the other precluded resource are avoided. Scheduling behaviors with and without restriction may differ from each other. System level simulation of LTE-Advanced downlink in an interference coordinated heterogeneous network shows that the performance degradation due to our scheduling restriction scheme is less than 2%, with the average overhead reduction of 40%.
