Radiologists recognize pulmonary nodules on CT images with graphical information from the visual sense. So, in this paper,we propose automatic segmentation of pulmonary nodules on CT images considering visual characteristics with sigmoid function. First, we selected 2D image which shows maximum pulmonary nodule on division surface from CT images and transformed its gradation by sigmoid function. Next, we decided threshold by discriminant analysis method and multiple regression analysis. Then we distinguish between pulmonary nodules and vessels by use of region splitting method considering gray values. We quantitatively evaluated the performance of our method using Jaccard index (the region obtained from computerized segmentation / the region decided by the radiologist). |
