(in English) There is the custom that the woman of Amami, Okinawa puts a tattoo in a hand for a long time. Documents of the 16th century have it, and the custom continued until modern times. Hajichi is memory of women of the hand. Here, I introduce the surgical operation method, a legend, a pattern (Okinawa, Miyako, Yaeyama, Amami) about Hajichi. Okinawa became a Japanese part in 1879 (Meiji 12) years, The Hajichi custom is denied in conflict with Japanese culture, and the culture changes greatly. This is memory of live women of the hand in modern Okinawa.
