Comparing with several TTSs that have been proposed, concatenative TTS has the greatest naturalness. However,
it has a big drawback, reducing the range of its applications, is the huge footprint, causing its online storage cost at end-user
devices is very high. In this paper, by using temporal decomposition for modeling contextual effects between sub-syllable
units within syllable, we proposed a low cost syllable-based concatenative TTS applied for monosyllabic languages. The
experimental results show that the proposed TTS has natural quality and high intelligibility while the footprint size only about
twenty MBs. Therefore, the proposed TTS can be efficiently applied in low resource devices. |
