Polarization variation of multi-level modulated signals interleaved with reference light

(in English) In this paper, it represents that polarization variation in a transmitter, which generates multi-level modulated signals interleaved with reference light using high-speed optical switch, influences received signals. Firstly, it is mathematically represented that state of polarization in the transmitter is modeled using Jones vector and polarization variation effects received signal power. Moreover, a continuous measurement of received signal power has been done to confirm an influence of polarization variation of 4.0 Gbit/s BPSK signals interleaved with reference light. The experimental results show the received signal power fluctuates and constellations of BPSK signals are degraded due to the polarization variation.
