In this study, we aim to implement a help method for the analysis of student’s learning history in the Programming Exercise class based on their learning process. As an approach to achieve this purpose, we developed a new method of sequential pattern mining specializing in the analysis of programming learning history. First, we developed a data processing method to express a transition of learning as a sequence from the source code and the content of error messages that students made during the exercise. Next, we developed tools for collecting programming learning histories, generating a sequence of learning from programming learning histories, extracting patterns by SPADE pattern extraction algorithm, and assisting in the acquisition of knowledge from extracted patterns. By using the tools repeatedly, we were able to effectively analyze the relationships between learning process and learning situation during the Programming Exercise class, and to expect the acquisition of knowledge useful when we want to understand the learning situation of status based on their learning process. |
