High Accuracy Motion Estimation based on Gradient Method using Characteristics of High Frame-rate Images

(in English) In this paper, we propose a method of high accuracy motion estimation based on the gradient method by exploiting the characteristics of high frame-rate images. In the proposed method, we adopt constraint equations with low estimated errors by adjusting target-pixel positions or the calculating position and direction of spatial gradients using previous motion vectors. In addition, we estimate motion vectors with the gradient based method using spatial gradients of both the target frame and the compared frame, under the assumption that the region around the reference position has a same motion vector. Finally, we evaluate the proposed method and confirm its effectiveness, and apply the estimated vectors to super-resolution as an application of the proposed method.
