We have designed a CMOS pulse-coupled phase oscillator circuit for spike-based nonlinear computation, and confirmed synchronization phenomena. The oscillator increases its internal state value at a constant angular frequency, and the state is reset at 0 when the state reaches 2π. The internal state is updated according to a phase sensitivity function at the timing when a spike pulse is received from other oscillators. In our oscillator circuit, the phase sensitivity function is made from piecewise binary waveforms. We have observed synchronization phenomena using the fabricated LSI chip. We have also constructed the measurement system in which a piecewise-linear coupling function with an arbitrary slope is generated by sampling the phase sensitivity function with a spike having a finite pulse width, and have measured transient states toward synchronization using the fabricated chip. |
