Method for Finding Route for Information Gathering by Automatic Helicopter

(in English) At the time of disaster, it is essential to get disaster situation promptly for rescue, recovery, and support activities. Information gathering by automatic helicopters attracts attention as one of effective methods. An automatic helicopter can gather not only aerial view of the damage but also data stored in sensors placed on roads and railway tracks by wireless communication. The technology of automatic helicopter has already put to practical use and we can use the helicopters comparatively at low cost; therefore, information gathering by automatic helicopters is a realistic mean. However, it is not easy to determine the routes of the helicopters under the tight restriction of battery capacity and available time. In fact, the problem to determine the routes is NP-hard. In this paper, we address the problem for information gathering by automatic helicopters and define as a discrete optimization problem. As this problem is NP-hard, we design a heuristic algorithm. The numerical experiments shows that the proposed algorithm can determine feasible routes.
