Study and feasibility analysis of multicasting methods employing MPLS-TP P2MP LSP

(in English) We studied multicasting methods on a MPLS-TP network and examined the feasibility of them.
A multicasting method in a career network requires the readiness for change and increase of the channel, the scalability for the number of channels, and the fast restoration. We showed that PIM and MVPN were suitable as a multicasting transmitting control protocol which fills these requirements.
We proposed the multicasting methods using MPLS-TP P2MP LSPs with PIM or MVPN as the control protocol. Both methods transmit a multicasting packet using P2MP LSPs. The PIM method uses unidirectional P2P LSPs from leaves to a root for connection of PIM control plain. The MVPN method uses the BGP process of unicasts for an MVPN control plain.
We evaluated the number of paths, and processing load for the feasibility assessment of both the methods in an actual network. As a result, it is clarified that the number of paths becomes a bottleneck of scale nature rather than processing load. In the viewpoint of the number of paths, it is clarified that the MVPN method is suitable for a large-scale network compared with the PIM method.
