Opportunistic Routing Based on End-to-End Delay Estimation for MANET

(in English) In ad hoc networks, terminals' mobility may cause dynamic change of network topology, which makes it difficult to establish stable transmission routes. As concerns this problem, opportunistic routing (OR), which does not rely on any specific route and forwards packets opportunistically using stable links, has been proposed. In order to achieve efficient packet forwarding in ad hoc networks, this paper proposes a new OR protocol based on the estimated end-to-end delay that is calculated from terminals' queue lengths and links’ transmission success rates. The proposed method tries to use the terminals that have the shorter delay to the destination terminal as forwarders for realizing shorter end-to-end delay and higher throughput. The performance and the efficiency of the proposed method are also clarified by computer simulation.
