Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) The scale of topology in the Internet is becoming larger corresponding to increase of traffic demand. Understanding how the AS level topology has been evolving is very important for modeling the topology and analyzing performance of applications and protocols. In this paper, we investigate the evolution of the Internet topology. In particular, we focus on the containment hierarchy in the Internet topology, which describes where ASes accommodating heavy traffic are in the topology. The containment hierarchy is the hierarchical structure derived from splitting the topology into some modules recursively. Our results show that the modularity of the topology was growing before appearance of Hyper Giant, and it is almost constant after that, mostly due to the increasing of the links between ISPs and Hyper Giants. Other finding is that the width of the containment hierarchy is becoming larger; on the other hand, the depth of the containment hierarchy is almost constant. From the topological view point, that means that a part of ASes aggregates more amount of traffic and suffers from overload.
