Evaluation of effective range in displacement estimation method for capacitive four degrees of freedom force sensor

(in English) In treatment and prevention of pressure ulcer, a force sensor has used for estimation of pressure ulcer risk. We have been developing a novel capacitance type force sensor that enables simultaneous measurement of a torque around the vertical axis as well as normal and two orthogonal shear forces on the skin surface. Forces and torque were calculated by four displacements which were estimated from capacitances of sixteen capacitors on the sensor. We developed estimation method which was able to detect four displacements from sixteen capacitances by iterative calculation because the capacitance characteristics of sixteen capacitors have nonlinear and nonmonotonic. In this report, we evaluated accuracy and value placed on the information of each capacitor in displacement estimation method by calculated value.
