A Branch-and-Bound Placement Method on Overlapped Printed Wiring Boards

(in English) In undersized manufacturing products, some PWBs (Printed Wiring Boards) are installed with overlapping. The distance between the PWBs should be bigger than the sum of thicknesses of overlapped components.
In this paper, we propose a placement method of components on a pair of overlapped PWBs to minimize the distance between the PWBs. The method uses backtracking algorithm since the number of components on PWBs is not so many. Furthermore, we show that proposed method is able to search any placement. Experimental results show that the best placement can be obtained in a practical time if the number of components is less than ten.
