[Poster Presentation] Localization error correction using illuminance sensor for pedestrian dead reckoning system with smartphones
Yohei Murakami, Tomoaki Ohtsuki (Keio Univ.) ASN2013-22
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Pedestrian dead reckoning is a method of localization that uses inertial sensors to estimate displacement from the previous position. This method can estimate position when GPS or WiFi is not available in buildings. However, dead reckoning is subject to cumulative errors. In this report, we focus on that most of illuminations are located regularly in indoor environment. In our proposal method, the estimated position is calibrated by the estimated distance between illuminations when we judge that illuminations are located regularly from the information obtained from illuminance sensor. Our experimental results show that the accuracy of localization with our proposal method is higher than that of the conventional one that uses only inertial sensors.
