| 抄録 | （和） | 日本語の関係節構文処理を対象とした先行研究では、主語関係節のほうが目的語関係節に比べ処理負荷が低いと報告され、これは処理負荷がfillerに対してgapの位置する階層構造の深さに依存するとの説明を支持するものであった。本研究は主語・目的語関係節の相対的処理負荷は関係節内の項およびhead nounの有生性に左右される可能性について検証を試みたが、その結果、有生性の操作と関係節タイプの間の有意な交互作用は得られなかった。しかしその一方、項の有生性にかかわらず、目的語関係節の処理負荷の方が対応する主語関係節に比べて低いという、先行研究と異なった結果が得られた。先行研究との乖離の理由として、関係節構造を示す情報の得られるタイミング（刺激呈示手法に依存）および、刺激文に用いられた語の特性という二点から考察を行う。 |
| （英） | Previous studies on the processing of relative clauses in Japanese have reported that relative clauses involving subject extractions (SRCs) are easier to process than relative clauses involving object extractions (ORCs).These results support the Structural Distance Hypothesis (SDH), which states that difficulties in relative clause processing are dependent on the structural distance between the filler and its gap site. In the present study, we investigated the effect of the animacy of nouns on the processing of sentences containing subject-relative and object-relative clauses. The results showed no significant interaction between the animacy and the relative type. However, the results showed the reading time for the object-extracted relative clause structures is actually faster than corresponding subject-extracted structures which contrasted the results from other previous studies. We discuss the results with respect to the effect of segmentation in the self-paced experimental setting and the degree of specification of the constituent nouns. | |
