Proposal a Method using Outer-Covering Haptic Display for Support Hand Skill Education

(in English) Haptics have been actively studied for tool manipulation skill training. Various systems typically present force to learner’s palm by directly actuating the tool. However, this approach is sometimes ineffective because learners have difficulty sensing the haptic feedback from the tool when they are holding it tightly, and they are unable to receive correctly the tool application force. Thus, we propose a different approach that guiding force is presented on the back of learner’s hand. To evaluate our approach, we developed an Outer-Covering Haptic Display (OCHD) and conducted two kinds of experiment, threshold and learning effect.
