Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In wireless communications, the use of high power amplifier (HPA) is necessary, especially in for long-dis- tance communications which require to transmit high power signals. A practical HPA has linear and nonlinear regions of amplification characteristics. If the transmitted signal exceeds linear region, the amplified signal will be distorted. To avoid this distortion, it is necessary to increase the input back-off (IBO). However, the power efficiency is deteriorated by the high IBO and the distortion is not removed perfectly in practice. In this paper, we investigate the influence of nonlinearity in terms of average mutual information and error performance with multilevel coding and multistage decoding.
