[Poster Presentation] Cooking Motion Recognition Based on Gradient Local Auto Correlation

(in English) There are many strategies to recognize human actions and gestures, and these are widely used to detect simple
gestures such as hand gestures, changes in face emotion, suspicious behaviors etc. However, it is not easy to detect and classify complicated activities and/or behaviors. In this paper, we introduce a method to detect human behavior in a special environment addressing motions relating to cooking in the kitchen. We propose Cubic GLAC (C-GLAC) to describe shapes of objects and how they change in time in a video sequence. The proposed method is an expansion of Gradient Local Correlation (GLAC), which is based on the gradient of an image, to describe static information of shapes in a frame and their changes in neighboring frames. A Support Vector Machine with linear kernel is employed, and the detection is performed for Kitchen Scene Context based Gesture Recognition (KSCGR) Dataset. The detection results are evaluated using the criteria of KSCGR Contest, and a recognition rate and a KSCGR evaluation score are 2.6% and 5.1% higher than the evaluation result of GLAC.
