Studies of Navigation System for Handle Type Electric Wheelchairs in Indoor/Outdoor

(in English) To ensure comfortable mobility environment for elderly people, we implement navigation system for handle type electric wheelchairs and evaluate it. This system chooses an electric wheelchair route. Then this system presents an arrow on the screen that indicates the way to go to destination. In order to evaluate the routing, we had some subjects move the found route on foot and did a questionnaire survey. From the results, we confirmed that the route for electric wheelchair is better than that of pedestrian. We got a prospect to the realization of the navigation system in indoor / outdoor.
