We previously proposed a method for fixing a parameter α for a 4-point cubic convolution interpolation function, and got α =-3/4. Parameters α=-3/5 and β=1/5 for a 6-point one are obtained by the method. We also showed these cubic convolution interpolation functions have small errors for a smooth single variable function, in which several cubic convolution interpolation functions are compared by resampling three single variable functions. This paper summarizes the proposed method for determining parameters for cubic convolution interpolation functions, and compares the functions derived from the method with several cubic convolution interpolation functions as well as the spline interpolation function when digital images are reconstructed by them. As a result they give similar characteristics to each other because the pixel values of images are not always smooth. In addition we show errors are very small between images reconstructed by the α=-3/5 and β=1/5 cubic convolution interpolation and the spline interpolation function. |
