Words have no meanings. (Digital Linguistics) -- The Meaning Mechanism of Complex Concept 'Self-Reproducing Automata' --
Kimiaki Tokumaru (Natural Philosopher) NLC2014-35
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In animals’ sign reflexes, signs are just triggers which activate reactive actions. Therefore, meanings reside not in signs but in reactive mechanism or in receiving circuit. The meaning of a human word is either a reactive action or sensory/thoughts memories related to the word. The meanings of a complex concept proposed as linguistic information must be processed with their individual concepts clearly defined and memorized in one’s consciousness. If we keep logical mechanism inside our brain updated with the state-of-the-art scientific knowledge, the complex concept generates profound meanings. The author tried these procedures with von Neumann’s “Self-Reproducing Automata”.
