Influence of Network Delay on Work Efficiency in Remote Robot Control with Force Feedback

(in English) In this report, we construct a remote robot control system with force feedback and investigate the influence of network delay on the work efficiency by experiment.
In the system, a user can operate an industrial robot with a force sensor at a remote location via a network by using a haptic interface device while watching a video.
The system has a mapping function of the workspace size and reaction force because the workspace size and reaction force are different between the haptic interface device and industrial robot.
In the experiment, the user does work to put a metal rod attached to the tip of the industrial robot into a hole.
As a result, we demonstrate that the average work time becomes longer as the network delay increases, and the average work time and average reaction force depend on the mapping rates of the workspace size and reaction force.
