In a snowy country, a snow removal by snow-blowers is an important activity for preventing traffic accidents. In order to support efficient activities of snow-blowers, a snow-fall measurement system, which can be deployed in various places for observing conditions of snow-fall in a wide area, is attracting attention. However, the existing system is too expensive for preparing many devices because it is composed of special equipment which satisfies high requirements of the Meteorological Agency for measurement accuracy. In this paper, we propose a snow-fall measurement system using low-cost ultrasonic distance sensors. In addition, an operator should frequently wake up in midnight for judging whether the snow-blowers should go out or not by checking condition of the snow-fall because the future snow-fall until next morning cannot be estimated intuitively. In order to reduce workload of the operator, we also propose a snow-fall estimation method which predicts future snow-fall patterns by analyzing sensor data. |
