A Method for Determining Parameter Values of the Cochlea Reflectionless Transmission-Line Model
Takemori Orima, Yoshihiko Horio (Tokyo Denki Univ.), Tohru Kohda (Kyushu Univ.) NLP2015-35
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Cochlea models are good candidates for a high-performance frequency analyzer. The passive transmission-line model proposed by Oono and Kohda can well reproduce the characteristics of the cochlea, and is suitable for a circuit implemention. In addition, an active transmission-line model was proposed to realize active properties of the cochlea. However, the physiological mechanism of the negative resistance introduced in the active model is still not clear. To overcome this problem, Kohda et al. introduced a hydro-mechanical transducer and a non-linear circuit element into the model instead of the negative resistor. As a result, the proposed model can reproduce both passive and active responses of the cochlea. In this paper, a simple procedure to determine the parameter values in the passive model, which is the basis of the active model.
