NIRS (Near infra-red spectroscopy) is a spectroscopic device with which the brain activity can be measured non-invasively and low-restrictedly. Measurements using NIRS are excellent in versatility, however, the obtained data include two unknown constants and are often contaminated easily by various kinds of noise. In this study, recurrence plots were adopted to discriminate the task period from the pre-task period. Furthermore, the histograms based on recurrence plots revealed the significant statistical difference between task period and pre-task period. Therefore, recurrence plots told us not only the apparent difference but also the statistical difference of the hidden structure in noisy NIRS data. |
