Toward man-machine interface offering intuitively control, we investigate application of a nonlinear phenomenon, called as stochastic resonance to detect myoelectro signal, which optimizes the response to weak signal by adding noise. Carbon-nanotube (CNT)-composite paper was applied to surface electrode and was found to detect the myoelectric signal similar to the commercially available Ag/AgCl surface electrodes. We successfully demonstrated stable detection of the myoelectric signal in motion using the stochastic resonance system, which integrated Schmitt Trigger devices and the CNT-composite paper-based multiple surface electrodes. This system was also applied to control a robot arm. |
