Self-Organized Resource Allocation Scheme based on partial CSI Sharing in HetNets Employing Cell Range Expansion

(in English) In this paper, we consider the resource allocation problem in a heterogeneous network composed of a macrocell and overlaid range-expanded picocells. To protect Pico User Equipments in range-expanded areas (ePUEs) from severe macrocell interference in the conventional method, Macro Base Station (MBS) reduces its transmit power on the Almost Blank Subframes (ABSs). However, such a subframe-based blanking method limits the allocation possibilities as compared to Resource Block (RB)-based dynamic allocation. Moreover, the ABS pattern needs to be decided and shared before hand among the cells. In the proposed scheme, MBS predicts the ePUE's RB allocation based on partial CSI sharing, and reduces its transmission power in RBs where ePUE's allocation probability is estimated to be high. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme outperforms the conventional reduced power ABS scheme and achieves good macrocell/picocell performance trade-offs.
