Developing PID-based-controller for an ADCS test–bed platform

(in English) Recently, test-bed based on spherical air-bearing (test-bed table) has been noticed in the research of simulating space-like environment (weightless, micro-friction?) which serves to verify spacecraft/satellite ADCS control techniques before launch. Test-bed table is a high order nonlinear system with uncertainty moment of inertia, effected by many disturbances and actuator saturations. Expected solution simulating weightless environment which challenges of developing this systems, is automatically aligning the center of gravity (CG) with the center of rotation (CR) in micrometer precise boundary. A control system is required to improve the accuracy, stability and responding time of the test-bed table in the relatively operation range.
As a good strategy, robust PID-based control system has been introduced successfully complex system. Additionally, the controller is free of plan model during the design process therefore it is able to be simply to accomplish. Therefore, three feasibility robust PID-based controllers are proposed as the feasibility solution for the test-bed table system: Cascaded PID Loops, PID-fuzzy and Nonlinear PID. To investigate the performance of these controllers in ADCS test-bed plan, we perform a large number of simulations in different conditions under the MATLAB environment. In this paper, we summarize some important performance evaluations of the proposed controllers. The results show satisfactory performance and good robustness of these controllers. In order to further improve performance of these controllers, we are preparing to implement in ADCS platform for practical evaluation.
