The accuracy of Bayesian inference depends on the number of samples or noise. Sample size or noise level often changes the quality of inference such as an optimal model size. In this paper, we introduce a new quantity, which is called Bayesian specific heat. Bayesian specific heat explains the qualitative changes, which correspond to crossovers or phase transitions in statistical physics. We demonstrate the effectiveness of this quantity in a typical regression problem. We discuss a necessary sample size and noise level from a viewpoint of Bayesian specific heat. |
