[Invited Talk] 3-D shape measurement with Shape From Focus/Defocus technique and its applications -- 3-D Shape Reconstruction based on Focus Information --

(in English) Shape From Focus/Defocus has been known as one of Shape From X techniques which measure and reconstruct 3-D shapes from the information X. The technique estimates the depth value to each point on an object surface based on a set of multi-focus images acquired by varying focus setting, from which the shape of the object is reconstructed. SFF/SFD techniques, which are typical of passive measurement techniques, can recover a precise object shape using rather simple hardware, compared with active ones such as active stereo and laser-based techniques. This report introduces fundamental and practical SFF/SFD techniques, and research activities in our labolatory related to SFF/SFD techniques.
