An Online Education System Based on Information Hiding Techniques

(in English) Online courses have been quite popular these days. Students can watch and read the learning materials regardless of time and places on the web through these courses. There are many educational approaches such as active learning and flipped classroom employing these online courses, and it is quite important for students to study those learning materials on their own under these educational programs. But it is very difficult that teachers grasp each student’s progresses exactly since motivations and abilities of students are quite different one another. In this study, we propose to apply information hiding technique to make video learning materials used in online courses. In the proposed system, watermarks are embedded in the video materials to record the students’ progresses and encourage them to study the materials actively. In this paper, we report the results of the experiments to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed watermarking system.
