Decentralized area partitioning for a cooperative cleaning task with limited communication range

(in English) This paper proposes a method for decentralized area partitioning for
coordination for cleaning in an environment in which communication
ranges between agents are strictly restricted.
With the recent advance in computer science and robotics, a number of
robots applications are proposed and actually operate in several
domains, such as security patrolling and cleaning task. Particularly, to
cover large environments, cooperative and coordinated works by multiple
robots/agents are strongly required.
We previously proposed the method to partition the region into smaller
sub-regions for division-of-labor, but we assume that communications
between agents are always available and reliable. However,
communication range is often restricted in the real situations. Thus, we
extend the previous method so that agents can effectively divide their
responsible regions with restricted communication capability.
Then, we experimentally evaluate our method and compare these results
with those derived by the previous method. The results shows that
proposed method can exhibit the comparable performance even though
chance of communications is limited.
