Investigation on Dynamic View Expansion Techniques for Video See-through Head Mounted Displays

(in English) Research in human augmentation has recently gained considerable momentum. One specific area is the extension or expansion of human vision, which is often accomplished through Video See-through Head Mounted Displays (HMD). However, constant expansion of the field of view can have negative consequences such as distorted motion perception and judgement. To compensate for this, we propose a dynamic view expansion system that automatically expands a normal visual field when needed. To test this method, we conducted two experiments to compare fixed views to different types of dynamic expansion, and results show that search task performance increases with dynamic view expansion.
