Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) This paper describes a study of vehicular localization using traffic sign information and GNSS for the performance improvement of localization in urban canyon. The proposed system uses traffic sign information as the alternative of a GNSS satellite. The performance comparisons of the proposed system using 3 satellites and one traffic sign and the conventional GPS using 4 satellites are carried out in urban canyon on which the performance of GPS degrades due to multipath and shadowing. It is shown that the average localization error of the proposed system is average 18.15 meters and the one of the conventional GPS is 60.70 meters, and the proposed system can improve the localization performance against the conventional GPS.
