Recently, overexploitation by IUU (Illegal, unreported and unregulated) fishing becomes a big problem.
Illegal fishing has taken estimated 30% of fish catches in the world.
Therefore, it is important to control illegal fishers strictly and grasp the number of boats which goes to fishing.
In this report, we propose a robust boats detection system on the sea by employing an HSV adaptive background subtraction, MRCoHOG (Multiple Resolution Co-occurrence Histograms of Oriented Gradients) and Real AdaBoost.
In contrast to the pedestrian and vehicle detection systems, the boats vary in size and shape, and a pre processing is required for detection the boats on the sea.
We employ the HSV adaptive background subtraction algorithm to extract a region of interest, then MRCoHOG and Real AdaBoost detect the boats.
Experimental results show that the proposed system successfully detect various types of boats on the sea. |
