The author considers a rollback algorithm for hybrid P2P systems which consist of multiple peers and a single server. The rollback algorithm enables fault peers roll back to checkpoints taken before getting fault. In rollback algorithms of systems where multiple processes communicate with each other, not only one fault process but also the others that communicate with the fault process are enforced to roll back to their checkpoints. Thus, each process is obligated to prepare a feasible checkpoint for the synchronous rollback. This manuscript provides the method in which the server makes the peers take checkpoints using Lamport clock and they roll back to the checkpoints. This method has the advantage of not keeping peer processes waiting for the others, since they do not communicate with each other for checkpointing and rollback. |
