esearch of rice cultivation management utilizing a field server has been widely made [1, 2, 3]. Fujitsu “akisai” [1] is a general-purpose product. Therefore, when it is installed in a rice paddy field, an outside power supply is necessary which requires installation costs. The “PaddyWatch [2]” and “e-kakashi [3]” do not require an outside power supply since they are equipped with only small sensors that consume little electricity. They do not have a camera. Rice growth management requires close observation of the leaf color and the height of rice stalk. Therefore, it is indisputable that rice paddy field images are necessary for proper rice growth management. In addition, because the products use 3G network, farmers need to pay the communication costs. The authors developed an agricultural support system with a mobile battery, a camera, and a free local communication system. We installed our agricultural support system outside in field tests, confirming the operation of the system. |
