Tantalum oxide based composite with yttria (Y-Ta-O) films were fabricated on synthetic fused silica substrates to investigate the effect of yttria on the increase of crystallization temperature of Ta2O5. The crystallization of Ta2O5 was not observed in the film annealed at 800ºC for 30 minutes, confirmed by x-ray diffraction analysis. The refractive index and extinction coefficient of as-deposited and annealed Y-Ta-O films were calculated with the transmissivity spectra. The extinction coefficient of annealed Y-Ta-O film was 10 times lower compared with that of annealed Ta2O5 film. The magneto-optical properties of magnetophotonic crystal using Y-Ta-O were calculated by matrix approach. The calculated results indicated that the MPC using Y-Ta-O has the high transmissivity and large Faraday rotation angle. |
