Training effects of automated social skills trainer for users of autism spectrum disorders

(in English) We have attempted to automate one or several parts of social skills training through multimodal human-computer interaction. While the previous system was only tested by members of the general population of graduate students, in this paper we applied the system to people with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). We recruited a total of 10 males (7-19 ages) of autism spectrum disorders, and they used the system. A clinical psychologist rated the overall narrative skill and appropriateness of other non-verbal information to the recorded data. As a result, we confirmed a significant improvement in narrative skill between pre and post training, and relationship between overall narrative skill and various non-verbal information.
