[Poster Presentation] Quantization Noise Reduction of Speech by Using Denoising Auto-encoder

(in English) A quantization noise reduction technique based on Denoising Auto-encoder (DAE) was studied. DAE is a neural network to convert the input signal with various noises into an original clean output signal. In this paper, DAE networks were trained to recover PCM speech signals from linearly quantized ones and also from the ones with dither signals. A preliminary experiment shows that the proposed method improves the PESQ quality evaluation value by 0.8 for normal PCM quantization and 0.88 for PCM quantization signal with dither. The result shows the effectiveness of applying DAE method to recover clean signals from quantized ones.
