Network tomography is a network monitoring method to estimate network internal characteristics from end-to-end measurements. In this article, we study Boolean network tomography to identify network node failures.
In an existing Boolean network tomography scheme, failure nodes are identified by transmitting probe packets among two or more measurement nodes. On the other hand, we consider reflective Boolean network tomography for node failure detection, where one measurement node transmits and receives probe packets on its round-trip paths, and propose a path selection scheme for the round-trip paths. With simulation experiments, we evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme. |
