In this paper, we propose a design method for a band-pass maximally flat FIR fractional order differentiators (FODs) with stopbands obtained by minimizing the $L_p$ norm in the stopband.
FODs are digital signal processing systems for calculating the time/space fractional order derivative of an input signal.
The proposed transfer function is composed of two functions, one with flat characteristics in the passband and one that ensures the transfer function has $L_p$ approximated characteristics in the stopband.
The proposed FODs can differentiate the input signal without distortion in the passband because of flat magnitude and group delay responses.
The characteristics of stopbands designed by minimizing the $L_p$ norm can be used to control the relationship between the steepness in the transition band and the ripple scale.
In the optimization of the function, Newton's method is employed. |
