Abstract This paper proposes active listening learning support for counselors by employing a psychological counseling corpus and the EMOtional MOvement Observation system (EMO system). The EMO system is meant to evaluate the feeling of "being listened to" and provide feedback to the counselors as a resource to improve their techniques. We asked two clinical psychologists to evaluate two counseling dialogues selected from the corpus using the EMO system. The results are discussed in terms of whether and how counselors' active listening concepts can be measured using the EMO system, which has originally been developed to evaluate emotions in music and dialogue. |
