Parameter Memorization-Free Reversible Data Hiding for HDR Images

(in English) This paper proposes a reversible data hiding (RDH) method for high dynamic range (HDR) images. In HDR images, in contrast to ordinary low dynamic range (LDR) images, many possible pixel values are used to represent wider luminance range and broader color space. Thus, the histogram, the distribution of pixel values, of HDR images is practically sparse, and the proposed method well utilizes the sparseness of the histogram. The proposed method distorts an HDR image based on its histogram to hide data to the image imperceptibly. The method also extracts the hidden data from the distorted image and further recovers the original image from the distorted image, i.e., the proposed method is a RDH method. Conventional RDH methods for LDR images uses an image dependent parameter to hide data to an image and it needs the parameter to extract the hidden data and to recover the original image from the distorted image, i.e., the methods have to memorize an image dependent parameter per image. On the other hand, the proposed method extracts the hidden data and recover the original image from the distorted image without any image dependent parameter by data hiding which utilizes the sparseness of HDR images' histogram.
